Om mentorprogrammet – About
Crescendo var et unikt samarbeid mellom tre kunstneriske partnere: Festspillene i Bergen, Barratt Due musikkinstitutt og Oslo-Filharmonien.
Det ligger to del-programmer under Crescendo-paraplyen: Et mentorprogram for unge musikere og ungdomsorkester-programmet Ung Filharmoni.
Mentorprogrammet ble avsluttet i 2021, etter de planlagte seks årene.
Mentorprogrammet var rettet mot unge klassiske utøvere med norsk bakgrunn eller langvarig tilknytning. Aldersgrensen var opp til 25 år i søknadsåret.
Deltakerne ble tatt opp som enkeltpersoner, men de kunne ha hovedvekt mot en solistkarriere eller som en del av en kammergruppe. En forutsetning for å bli tilbudt en plass og ha maksimalt utbytte av programmet var at musikeren allerede var kommet til et særskilt høyt nivå som utøver, og var i gang med å etablere en internasjonal karriere gjennom flere profesjonelle opptredener. Mange av deltakerne hadde gjerne allerede en avtale med et profesjonelt agentur.
Innholdet i programmet ble tilpasset hver enkelt deltaker, som typisk var aktivt med i 2-3 sesonger. Etter denne perioden ble musikeren en del av «Crescendo-familien» og ble gjerne invitert tilbake for å delta på konserter sammen med deltakerne.
I løpet av perioden fikk de treffe og jobbe med flere forskjellige mentorer, både i form av samspill og instruksjon, men også som personlige møter og samtaler med den enkelte.
I tillegg ble de fulgt opp av Crescendo-teamet i forbindelse med solistopptredener og konkurranser, og de fikk jevnlig møte ledelsen i Oslo-Filharmonien for samtaler rundt utvikling og videre karriere. Oslo-Filharmonen fasiliterte også møter mellom Crescendo-deltakerne og sine dirigenter gjennom året. Disse møtene hadde stor potensiell verdi både gjennom inspirasjon og kunstnerisk veiledning, men også som en mulig døråpner i videre karriere.

Crescendo was a unique collaboration between three artistic partners: Bergen International Festival, Barratt Due Institute of Music and Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
There were two different programs under the Crescendo umbrella: A mentoring program for outstanding emerging young classical musicians and a youth-orchestra project – Ung Filharmoni.
After its cheduled six years, the mentoring program finished as planed in 2021.
The mentoring program was open for applicants of Norwegian origin or with a long-standing connection to Norway. The upper age limit was 25 at the time of the application.
Each participant was admitted individually, but they could either be aiming for a career as a solist or as part of a fixed chamber group.
To be offered a place in the program and to be able to draw the full potential from participating, the candidates had to be on an outstanding level, both musically and technically. They were expected to have embarked on a professional career, and most of them would alredy have a professional representation.
The program typically runned for 2-3 years and is tailored to each participant’s specific needs. After the active period the participants stay on as alumni in the Crescendo family, and are regularly invited back to perform in concerts with the present participants.
During the course of the program the young musicians will meet and work closely with various mentors, both through coaching and shared performances, but also in the shape of individiual coaching sessions and talks.
Additionally, the participants will be guided and supported in connection with appearances as solist or in competitions, and they are regularly offered to meet with the artistic leadrship of the Oslo Philharmonic to discuss their development and future career.
The Oslo Philharmonic also facilitates auditions where the the young artist can meet and perform for their regular conductors. These audiotions are of great value, both as inspiration and artistic guidance, but also as a potential door-opener in their future career.
